About Us

Diversity, in respect to our blog, is the difference in mindsets and motivations, variations and beliefs, actions and practices in institutions that differ between groups.

- Through consented interviewing and observation, our goal is to search for variations in cultural values in how different groups of students (excluding faculty and staff) find reasons and motivations to attend the gym on the USF campus. By compiling our results, we aim to determine trends in both motivations and mindsets of active USF students.

- Once data is collected and analyzed, we hope to post the trends we have observed in active USF Students.

- Humanistic Approach: By finding diversity in trends, we can better understand the different mindsets of the students at USF who go to the gym.

Conducting Surveys!

Workout Buddy Benefits!

Sometimes the reason we don't workout is simply because nobody is there to tell us to go!!! Having a workout partner, is a surefire way to get you motivated and into the gym!
You have to find someone who is motivated to start working out on a routine with you-and who will push you when you don't feel like going.
This article explains that having an exercise partner provides you with support, accountability, motivation, and sometimes even healthy competition.

I know first hand, that when I have a plan to go to the gym with a friend or relative I stick to that plan. When I plan on going by myself, sometimes better opportunities come up- and the gym gets pushed to the side.

Sam, you mentioned that just going to the gym and starting somewhere is better than nothing. That reminded me about New Years Resolutions. This article talks about the statistics behind resolutions-and how many people stick to it!

Find that "spark" and get MOVIN!

We've all been there. Waiting to do something because we're holding out for that "push" to get us moving in the right direction. This little article from Mr. Olympia himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger, describes how to find that spark and to help everyone get active and healthy while having motivation for continued fitness. We don't have to get out there and be the next world champion bodybuilder, but a little exercise a day is a great way to get in shape and be healthier for the years to come. So go out there, find your "spark" and get moving, whether its in the gym or your home!
