About Us

Diversity, in respect to our blog, is the difference in mindsets and motivations, variations and beliefs, actions and practices in institutions that differ between groups.

- Through consented interviewing and observation, our goal is to search for variations in cultural values in how different groups of students (excluding faculty and staff) find reasons and motivations to attend the gym on the USF campus. By compiling our results, we aim to determine trends in both motivations and mindsets of active USF students.

- Once data is collected and analyzed, we hope to post the trends we have observed in active USF Students.

- Humanistic Approach: By finding diversity in trends, we can better understand the different mindsets of the students at USF who go to the gym.

"Couch to 5k"

I heard about an app that is called "Couch to 5k", and you download it- and open the app during your workout. It gives you timed intervals and tells you when to walk, jog, or run. You start off day one with  a 5 minute walk/ then alternating 90 seconds of jogging with 2 minutes of walking for a total of twenty minutes.
Each day the walking is lessened and the jogging is increased. I thought this was a great idea for people who don't feel like they know what they are doing- or they are not comfortable with just trying to start running on a treadmill. This gives the person who is intimidated with going to the gym a plan- and a set workout to stick with.
