About Us

Diversity, in respect to our blog, is the difference in mindsets and motivations, variations and beliefs, actions and practices in institutions that differ between groups.

- Through consented interviewing and observation, our goal is to search for variations in cultural values in how different groups of students (excluding faculty and staff) find reasons and motivations to attend the gym on the USF campus. By compiling our results, we aim to determine trends in both motivations and mindsets of active USF students.

- Once data is collected and analyzed, we hope to post the trends we have observed in active USF Students.

- Humanistic Approach: By finding diversity in trends, we can better understand the different mindsets of the students at USF who go to the gym.

Reading this article really puts things into perspective about why people attend the gym. Not only is it a place for health and being more active, but it is also a place that we can mold our bodies to find the perfect form of a male and female and to attract others and fit gender roles. The exercises we perform and the clothes that we where at the gym are all a reflection of what is considered "attractive" in our society and what is expected of men and women in society. Definitely a good read to see how the gym is a microcosm for the norms of gender in our society!
